Description and Uses:

Angelica Seed Essential Oil has a spicy, earthy aroma that feels deeply grounding, anchoring, and emotionally balancing. Many aromatherapists consider Angelica to be a profoundly restorative oil—often chosen to help support the body and spirit when someone feels depleted, exhausted, or worn thin. It’s an excellent addition to blends intended for strength, steadiness, and renewal, especially during times of stress or transition.

There are two essential oils produced from Angelica: one distilled from the root and one from the seed. Seed oil typically yields a higher volume and is therefore often more accessible, while root oil is generally considered deeper, richer, and more concentrated in aroma.

Angelica has been cultivated since at least the 10th century for both nutritive and traditional wellness use. The botanical name Angelica archangelica is believed to reference the Archangel Michael—linked in folklore to the plant’s revered protective qualities and historic associations with supporting the body during times of illness.

In aromatherapy, Angelica Seed is commonly used in blends meant to support:

  • Emotional grounding and resilience

  • A sense of stability and inner strength

  • Seasonal wellness and respiratory comfort (when appropriately diluted)

  • Digestive-support massage blends (traditional use)

Because of its earthy-spiced character, it pairs beautifully with resins, herbs, and bright citrus oils, creating blends that feel both steadying and uplifting.

Cautions:

Avoid use during pregnancy. May cause photosensitivity—avoid sun exposure or UV tanning beds for at least 12–18 hours after topical application. For external use only. Always dilute properly before applying to skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Perform a patch test prior to topical use, especially for sensitive skin.
